Ivy opened her eyes, blinking a little in the morning sun streaming through the window, and smiled. She was in her parents’ old room, rather than her own, but it was still familiar here. She sighed happily. Crickhollow would always be home to her.
Not that she didn’t like Brandy Hall, but this was where she had lived most of her life. She had spent as much time in Gondor as at Brandy Hall since her father had become Master. But Brandy Hall wasn’t even her home anymore. Now her home would be at Great Smials.
She frowned. She had never really felt comfortable in the home of the Tooks. As a child, she had been a little frightened of Pippin’s father. An arm slipped around her waist and a warm body cuddled closer. Her husband nuzzled her ear and kissed her cheek. “Love you,” he murmured sleepily. She smiled again. She supposed it really didn’t matter where she lived. Wherever Pippin was would be home.
