Pippin had a lot to be thankful for this year. After so many years of misery, after the awful events of the spring, he finally had happiness and hope. Diamond was gone, sent back to Long Cleeve in disgrace. He hadn’t touched a drop of whiskey since May. His son was happier now, smiling more than frowning. He’d patched things up with Merry. And he was in love.
He smiled, thinking of Ivy. For the first time in his life, he could imagine a happy future with a happy family. He was thankful to Ivy for giving him that future.
