He'd only suggested it off-handedly, as a joke really. He hadn't really expected Merry's eyes to light up like that, for that mischievous grin to come over his face. But here they were, tip-toeing around the back of the tent, trying to keep out of sight.
The shapes inside the wagon looked a little ominous. But Pippin didn't have time to think about it, because Merry was suddenly pushing him up inside. He landed on paper tubes that smelled faintly of rotten eggs.
He grabbed one and held it up.
"No, no!" whispered Merry. "The big one, the big one!"
