"They ditched me again!" Pippin pouted and slouched back into the haven of Bilbo's overstuffed couch. "Merry and Fatty and Folco went for a walk down by the river and told me I couldn't come." He gave a bored, sleepy sigh. "They're going to watch girls."
"Well, you can spend the afternoon with me if you like," said Frodo. He put down the tea tray and sat next to his young cousin. "The Gamgees' dog just had puppies. Would you like to go and see them?"
Pippin's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. Puppies were much better than silly old girls!
